OMG, you guys! I had the biggest scare of my life this morning on the way to work. Most of you, who follow me on Twitter or Facebook, knows what I am talking about. I should, first, tell you that yesterday I called into work because it was raining freezing rain and I knew the roads would be frozen and icy. This morning, the temps were up to 43*F so I figured I was safe. I was driving down the interstate/highway. Speed limit is 60mph and I was going 65 to 70mph which is good considering I normally go 80. Well, I passed an exit where about 4 or 5 cars were coming onto the interstate so I slowed down. As I passed them, I hit a sheet of ice and lost control of my car. I started spinning and all I could think of was that I needed to slam on the brake as hard as I could so that I didn't hit anything. When I finally stopped moving, I found myself on the other side of the median almost in the opposite direction traffic. I was literally inches from the guard rail. Luckily, I hadn't hit it and I have no idea how I didn't.
I looked across the street. Another car had slid too and actually ran into their guard rail. I was really shaken up cuz I had no idea at that point whether I had hit that car or not. I looked around my car and didn't see a scratch or dent on it. It was just caked in the mud and wouldn't budge. After I called the cop, I ran across the highway to check on them and they were ok. Yes, I said they. The woman had her 4 year old son with her, who she was taking to daycare. I asked her what had happened and she said she had slid on ice too and lost control. She knocked her front and back end off. A cop pulled up to tell us that someone would be with us soon. About that time, a white SUV flew down the road hitting that same piece of ice and spun themselves as well. Luckily, they didn't get stuck and pulled back into the road, going their own merry way.
When all was said, my parents came out to check on me. My dad was able to push me out. There was no damage done to it except the fact that it needs a front end alignment now. When I go to speeds over 60, it shakes real bad.
Guys, you all know I haven't been much of a religious person but I seriously think the Lord took a hold of that wheel this morning. Either him or my guardian angel. How else do you explain the fact that there was no damage to my car?! I'm still so shaken up. That migraine I had last week came back. My mother gave me the other half of the Loratab I took. I'm off to take a nap.
